For more information on monsters and champions, please refer to the reincarnation guide.
Monsters are not truly a single race. In reality, they are much more diverse than humans are. All supernatural and mythological creatures are categorized as such as a catch-all. Not all monsters have humanoid forms, but most do. There are no pre-defined races - anything that you can think of within reason are playable.
Not all monsters are under contract. Many of them live and die by their natural lifespans. There are even monsters whose lifespans predate Bau's, but these are exceedingly rare.
Champions are humans who have voluntarily or involuntarily engaged in a contract with a monster by slaying them in their first lifetime. Many of them are known as heroes with varying degrees of renown. Some are high born, but accidental killings have also lead to the ascension of common men.
Despite the sacrifice that they have made, champions are not immune to unnatural deaths. Monster cults often take advantage of this by sending assassins after those who are known champions. Witches are also able to become champions, and they are categorized as the latter for sorting purposes.
Witches are humans who are able to manifest their magical powers in the physical world. Witches can be born into any human family via an incredibly rare gene, with the exception of those with prolific magical bloodlines. They are considered human beings, though cultural attitudes towards magic varies. Please consult the setting lore for more information. For information on their magic, please consult this guide
Salt witches are special witches who are descended from the original binders of Bau's contract. They have the exclusive ability to scry for fated bonds. This lineage may be retconned into existing characters or new ones, but it must be purchased from the site shop.
Again, witches should be classified as "humans" for race.
All non magical humans are categorized as such. They are the ones who write the history of the world, and arguably the freest of all people. In theory, anyway. They constitute the majority of human nations.
