[attr="class","appbody"] [attr="class","appcat"]bio Willpower only stretches so thin. A man's intestines will only sate a belly so long. The only thing that will never run dry is a mother's love. The last one was not one of her mother's teachings. Maybe that's why she shouldn't have been surprised when her mother died and left her with even less than she had before. She wasn't always called Sophia. She was given that name by a lively boy with eyes so bright they could have belonged among the stars. He told her that Sophia meant 'wisdom', and that she was deserving of it because she knew of so many things that he could only dream of. But foreignness and wisdom are not the same. If she was wise, then she wouldn't have told him that she loved him. She wouldn't have offered him something that she wasn't ready to give. She wouldn't have told him the one secret that wasn't hers to tell. She loved too foolishly. Sophia learned something important on the day that her mother had died. It's just not smart to love anything if their survival was not tied to hers. She's going to be a smarter girl from here on out. Now that the humans have learned her secret, she has no choice but to be. She's driven out of her homeland when the others realize that she's the reason that bounty hunters have started to encroach on their territory. Sophia runs. She runs and runs because that's the only thing that she can do, up until the moment that she's forced to run with a sword because scissors aren't enough to keep anything but a fairy away. One day she stops running. One day her sword is broken and her ribs are broken and it's just a matter of time before her will is broken too. She finds Shara (or maybe the empire found her) and remakes herself into something that can survive. She forgives the humans for her mother because swallowing their pride is just what the weak have to do. She casts aside a child whose interests will never coincide with her own. She can make her own happiness. Sophia believes. She has to believe. (Which child?) Her story takes her to Irkalla, where she slips herself into the family of one of the council members. Sophia is someone else. She learns when to smile and how to hold a salad fork. She learns how to tear down a man at the top and build a boy from the bottom. She's a loving daughter and a doting sister and every other thing in between. She can control her own happiness. Just because it's a lie doesn't make that happiness any less real. [attr="class","appcat"]lore & abilities Draugrs were revenants that became a little less true to their human origins awhile before they split off from the evolutionary tree. Their true form is rotten and dark blue in color. Legend speaks of a treasure that the draugr will jealously guard with their lives. At one point, it was burial treasure. Now that a draugr is no longer a mere animated corpse, their treasures [redacted], leading them to be hunted to near-extinction by humans who have learned of their prize. Draugrs are carnivores. Vegetation can be ingested, but provide no nutritional benefit whatsoever. They are traditionally man-eaters, though Sophia has acclimated to animal meat in light of her current lifestyle. Sophia is likely the last of her kind. Draugr sightings have become so rare that most academic study on their kind have become largely historical. Like all draugrs before her, Sophia has super-strength and the inability to be pierced by any weapon except iron. Solid objects phase through her at will. Decapitation and immolation are the surest ways to kill her. Good luck with that -- Sophia has the ability to crush the minds of others with sheer willpower. The strong are merely stunned into unconsciousness - the weak are known to fall into comas or die outright. Due to the influence of a certain imperial citizen, she also commands the power of suggestion. Her suggestions are more powerful when her victim wants to believe them. She is also able to enter the dreams of magical sleepers at will, though it requires some proximity. | [attr="class","appname"]SOPHIA ROSENBURG [attr="class","appicon"] [attr="class","appstats"] AGE: 65 SEX: F RACE: DRAUGR HOMELAND: NORTHERN WASTES CONTRACT: Y [attr="class","appquote"]These accidents of faith and nature They tend to stick in the spokes of you |
