 the market's crowds are dying down but itha doesn't watch them. she squints in the shaded canopy of her stall, pinching herbs, sewing bags; only half-watching the table's perimeter of gris-gris and its center packed with plants, vials and powders. she's lost so much sense, you could say. but you could say she's become much more acute in other ways. barely glancing up through the blur of her lashes, itha knows it is him. knowing it is him, she pricks her finger on the needle. she laps at the blood and keeps the needle stuck in the folds of her robe, looking up at francis brightly.  gracias a la vida Faith doesn’t heal the sick. The residents of old town can scant afford to wait on their pains to go away. The doors to his clinic are closed, locked until he gets what he needs. Until he can collect the ingredients necessary to help his people help themselves. He moves effortlessly through the crowds, the trek to Itha’s stall being made for the umpteenth time. He shows up at her stall, standing before the woman and her wares. Her items are good, and he likes to think they have a rapport of sorts, so he smiles warmly at her, a wordless greeting. She asks him what he needs and in a clear voice he replies ”Everything.” Something about that seems gratuitous, as if he’s flaunting his incidental wealth. So he qualifies his request, an attempt at humility. ”Or rather, everything you’re willing to give me. Please. My patients need it.”ITHA ORELNETTE OF GS |

maybe she's smiling because it's funny. that on days, itha sells her stock (her stock of good things, magic that heals), and nights she slaughters the very same people he's trying to help. she isn't sure which one she prefers. maybe she's smiling because she likes when he comes by - cordial and knowledgable and good-natured for all his grim work. "everything?" itha knows he doesn't mean absolutely everything, she stands up and leans over the table and starts picking out everything, but just that which he needs. "how are you going to bring it all back?" she says to fill the silence. "are you always this busy?" she's only been in shara for a few weeks, not enough to know if there are always this many patients. certainly, she doesn't help the cause.
