[attr="class","appbody"] [attr="class","appcat"]bio i. A champion is nothing more than elaborate sleight of hand. The art of turning one thing into another. Twist the night into day. Twist the air into fire. And for the magician's final trick tonight: turn this monster into a docile pet, into a corpse, into a handful of ashes in a jar on the mantle. ii. Later, of course, she doesn't tell anyone where she came from, how the great imperial war-machine snatched her up from the streets of Belet and cycled her into whatever she is now. A creature, a weapon, a girl with shaking hands. Before Irkalla, the army was still recruiting. Like all good empires, it had to chew on its own tail from time to time. They needed people to cut out the rot. Civil wars were always flickering like candles at the winter solstice. It's a well-known fact. It's a part of life. Still, she doesn't tell anyone about either of the times she was reborn. The first time in a back alley with dirt on her face and blood on her hands. The second time when the witch looked over the rank and file and said her name. iii. Thalia is nothing more than elaborate sleight of hand. She defangs the monster. She turns herself harmless. She turns the world into something it is not, for as long as she's there, and then she's gone. iv. She doesn't tell anyone where she came from, although they all ask. A good magician doesn't reveal her secrets. A good magician doesn't exist outside the stage. If you think you see her elsewhere; well that's just dead light. That's not her. She's only this moment, this action, this flash of hands and flame. She does what she needs to do. v. When the curtain falls, when the audience rises to their feet and thunders applause, the magician is left with one last disappearing act. The show is over. They must turn themselves into something else. This is what the champion is: the heartbeat of that long, last moment, when she looks at the glassy-eyed people before her, to the monster behind her, to the crew members in the wings. The last trick is to turn herself into one of these three: the dead, the living or the in-between. [attr="class","appcat"]lore & abilities Much like the ugly duckling, Thalia grew up among witches and never became one. With the one lone exception, all of her Champion abilities lie in the physical realm, and she has negative magical talent. She has immense strength and absurd regenerative abilities; a healing factor, in modern parlance. But everything has a limit. Off with her head! and she'll crumple like a bad joke. Her only other gift from the Goddess (if that's the story you want to believe) is the mixed blessing of an unyielding will. Immune to telepathic tampering, be it witchy or monstrous in origin, she also has a very hard time seeing the world in anything other than black and white, or changing her principles. Reincarnation details to be added as she remembers them ICly. | [attr="class","appname"]THALIA DE LUCA [attr="class","appicon"] [attr="class","appstats"] AGE: 20 SEX: F RACE: HUMAN HOMELAND: BELET CONTRACT: Y [attr="class","appquote"]i'm your salvation, welcome to hell. |
