He knows this land like the back of his hand, the back of his claws, like the cranium of yellow and white bone nestled upon his head. He knows where to head if he needs water, and he knows where to look for food when his stomach complains. After sixty years of wandering through Centerspine, one would imagine that Caelin would have, also, come across every monster trap available. But this one was different, and even in his true form, he found that it was incredibly difficult to break through the netting. The ropes must have been magicked, for not even his claws could tear through the trap. It hoisted him off the ground at an awkward angle, half of his serpentine body twisted around the other. In fact, it was incredibly uncomfortable, and it didn't really help that his head was upside-down. He thrashes a couple more times clawing desperately at the cords, fangs dripping in corrosive acid as a last-ditch attempt to free himself. FELYSE DE REYNE

He was not meant for the cold, but here he was in Centerspine. At least they were not too high up in the mountains, where it would get colder, snowier. But still, the chill bit him more than the soldiers that were accompanying him - or rather, the soldiers he was accompanying. They were a monster hunting patrol sent by Irkallans to fend off some of the monsters that had been terrorising one of the small settlements. Felyse was there to get out of the villa, to travel. After all, it was boring to be stuck in one corner of the world. This however, was not the corner he wanted. In fact, he wanted the centre of it all, but that would be going against the wishes of his older brother. Felyse travelled with the main party, of which there were four others aside from him. Ahead of them was a pair of scouts, checking for monsters, for traps - and it would seem that they had found a monster in a trap, by the sounds of shouting up ahead. Felyse pulled lightly on the reigns of the horse he rode, pausing it for a moment as he watched the soldiers kick their own into a canter hindered by trees. It took him a moment before he followed, his horse following at a slower pace. Soon enough, he was in a clearing, and thrashing about from a rope in a tree was serpentine beast. Definitely a monster, and one that the soldiers were advancing on, their swords out and ready to plunge them into the creature. "Stop."He slid off the back of his horse, taking it by the reigns again and leading it towards the group. Handing the reigns to one of the soldiers, Felyse took note of the disapproval and confusion among the others as they moved back, away from the thrashing serpent. Explaining himself was necessary. "This is not the monster that we seek in these mountains. Stay back, they may know of which we seek." He would not trust them to question them. An interrogation was more likely. When he was sure that the soldiers would not disobey his orders, Felyse continued walking forward, heading closer to the creature. A frown made its way onto his face upon noticing liquid dripping from its fangs. Something poisonous, he was sure, and at the back of his mind, there was a temptation to get a hold of some of the venom. He had other things to do, however. Keeping a fair amount of distance between him and the monster, Felyse crouched down. He studied it, an attempt to figure out what it was. Could it talk? Understand him? There was only one way to find out. "Struggling will just make it harder to escape. Do you want to get down?"He was hoping that whatever this creature was, it wasn't one of those that attacked mindlessly. CAELINSO ...LONG...I'M SO SORRY

When they draw their blades, Caelin's lips curl as he bares his fangs. Perhaps, if he can offer his most frightening face, they will leave him alone. But before the group of hostile humans advances, one of them steps forward as the rest move away. His forked tongue flicks a final time out of his mouth, eyes settling upon the lone human. This one is unarmed, but the naga still attempts to back away within the net anyways. The man speaks with authority and commands attention, both his and the other humans'. Unarmed, he can do nothing. Even from within the net, Caelin has his claws and fangs to aid him if the situation called for it. Perhaps this human could help him. The naga ceases his struggling, eyes fixed upon the man. He curls his claws as the venom dripping from his fangs slows until they are the occasional drops. Caelin doesn't actually know what this man is saying, but he has enough intuition to sense whether or not he means any harm. ooc; it's okay! write as much as you need. i'm sorry for giving you tiny posts orz FELYSE DE REYNE

Helpless monsters, no matter how threatening they appeared, had little to no effect on humans intent on killing them. It was sad, in a way, to think that something that should be so feared by those with no truly effective way of defending themselves, they ended up being seen as pathetic. Felyse made no mistakes - nothing and no one were what they seemed. Though he appeared unarmed, Felyse was a witch and as such he had knowledge of the workings of all three magic schools. When it came to applying those spells, he only knew the basics. Perhaps he should have picked a school to focus on, but there were bigger things on his mind at the time. The liquid dripping from the creature's fangs slowed, and as they did he moved his gaze from them to the creature's eyes. It didn't seem to understand whatever he said, as no words came his way, and neither did some kind of gesture. Felyse frowned, letting his eyes trail over the creature's body in some attempt to figure out what it was. It'll probably come to him later. Careful he was, but he was also daring. He made a move that he doubted would be seen as anything but foolish - he moved closer to the beast, keeping his hands in full view of it. He wanted to know if it would attack. CAELINthis is so late im sorry ;n; tiny posts are okay though!!
