If now is forever then what's to prove 'cause it won't be the same next summer She was handling this better than she thought she might, but it was easier to distract yourself with festivities. Maybe that was immoral of her; she just couldn't spend all this time stressing over the looming disaster. It would happen and that's that. They all knew it was coming for a long time, anyways...
She sighed, sipping from the glass in her hand-- nothing more than water, mind you. (She never drank. She didn't like not being in control of herself.) It was so nice for the Rosenburg family to throw such a party. Eden had done dealings with them once or twice but didn't think she's ever met the lady of the evening. Which is a shame, she's heard such nice things.
"Irkalla is such a wonderful place, full of so many bright people..." she muses, eyes wandering along the crowd. She hated to think this might all be gone one day.
So she didn't, and instead let herself partake in the night.

santiago is pacing along the edges of the room, where he's certain he belongs. the clean people and their gentle chatter are a different world. everyone is occupied with conversation - santiago is quiet, and slightly drunk. he pauses by a girl who seems as much an onlooker as he. and he speaks, thoughtfully, evenly, before he can stop himself. "war will make them brighter still."EDEN FARRON

If now is forever then what's to prove 'cause it won't be the same next summer She didn't take note of her surroundings or the newcomer to her wistful monologue; her gaze continued its sweep along the crowd and the various festivities as she spoke, absently.
"Perhaps that is correct, but it's a risk that I'm not sure everyone is really willing to take. Rather, they wouldn't be, if they realized the costs. I worry deeply for this city and its patrons. I worry deeply that this will cause more harm than good. I wish it could be avoided... while I don't, at the same time. I'd also like Shara to pay. ... Personal vendettas should not fuel a war.
But that's all war really is, no?"
She caught herself eventually, eyes widening and a sputter of awkward embarrassment as she stumbled to the side and gave a quick wave to the male. "I'm very sorry!! I didn't quite realize I was speaking until I spoke. Enjoying the party? I've heard such nice things about the Rosenburgs! They really do not disappoint."
