it had been a few days since myrrha returned from the desert, a girl in tow. she was a ghoul, it seemed, and a young one at that. wapi was the farthest thing from a caring soul, but he still had his clan to run and she seemed to fit his m.o. like a glove. and he could definitely respect someone who cared as much about food as he did. wapi's entire existence rotated around his next meal and she was just as bloodthirsty as him. well, hungry might be a better word for it...but she was desperately curious about humans. and how could wapi turn down a mind for molding? it was morning in the northern wastes, the sun rising over the barren, gray horizon. he watched as the sun crept higher in the sky, waiting for yin to wake. they were going to have a lesson on humans today. YIN // this is so mediocre omg

when the night is starless, yin sits, crosses her legs like human girls, and stares, trying to pinpoint spaces in the sky where the stars may just appear, in case yin paying attention to them could draw them out. 'don't be scared,' like the little human said to her. 'let's be friends!'
it had been a while since yin had last spoken to a human. a long 'while'. she makes no secret in enjoying wapi and myrrha's company, but they seem to lack the same thing she lacks. yin had yet to understand that 'yearning' is born from 'shortage'.
how humans can trust a stranger who hides behind a tree with hair like seaweed and limbs like pale branches is something yin can't come around to, either.
but humans. they fascinate nonetheless. they would speak of whimsical happenings and foreign affairs. speak of faraway entities and conceptions that seemed only a puzzle for yin to try (and fail) to decipher. no one else around her seemed to be confused by things like 'dreams'. it is what she thinks about when she closes her eyes and lies on the floor, mimicking human posture. 'sweet dreams.' what is that, exactly? staring into the dark night sky is different from closing one's eyes. you don't feel as if you're going blind.
before she knew it, the sun was beginning to rise in the sky, basking the land in a soft, gentle glow. heat began to slowly, but surely beat down on her. she opens her eyes, too wide by human standards, and sit up, blinking slowly at wapi who was watching her. in the next moment, her gaze rises to meet his eyes. words try to form from her lips, but nothing leaves them.
WAPI mine is worse
