WITCH, michel delafere

orphaned as an infant, michel was taken in by a kind elderly family of farmers.  life was good, if a bit dull, until his magical abilities manifested.  a wandering cursebreaker saved him from exile, arriving just in time to try to cure him of this supposed curse.  when that turned out to be impossible, he took michel on as an apprentice instead.

this cursebreaker was somewhat incompetent.  though he had plenty of technical knowledge, his magical ability was miniscule at best.  michel, being a witch of middling talent, was naturally worked to the bone.  the old witch finally passed away a year ago, freeing michel.  unfortunately, this witch had a couple of unsettled debts, so any money michel could have inherited from his master vanished instantly.  constantly strapped for cash, michel has a tendency to take any job that comes his way, even if it doesn't exactly match his skill set.

allegedly, michel's bloodline was once of a large nomadic clan, which scattered into the four winds when the old sharan emporer deemed them too dangerous.  despite over two hundred years having passed, there has been no sign of rebuild, and michel has never met anyone with powers like his.




exuro - michel's primary ability literally sets his skin ablaze, transforming his flesh into molten lava.  he can also, in this state, regrow limbs, given that his entire body is lava.  however, clothes can not be regenerated.

locriatus - after some time, michel's lava skin will cool into solid volcanic rock.  this armor is near impenetrable, but has a limited duration.  eventually, the rock will crack and flake off, like really nasty shedding.

aduro - a second version of full body flame, transforming michel into condensed blue fire rather than lava.  much more destructive, much less stable, very energy consuming.

all seeing glasses - the only good thing his master ever gave him, these glasses allow michel to identify monsters, traps, and other individuals with magical ability.  they're a bit faulty after the last time he tried to add enchantments, though.  on the bright side, they're now fireproof.

leynth - michel's familiar.  a large raven, she's good at scouting ahead and looking cool.

beyond michel's general preference for fire magic and setting things on fire, he is also a skilled cursebreaker.  he's much better at ruining spells than casting them, and particularly enjoys purging valuable artifacts of their enchantments.

an aesthetic effect of his specialization is blue fire.
