the cycle of rebirth broken. no longer does the bird rise from the ashes, bound to the cycle of life and death unending. fated to one fleeting and fragile life, a flickering flame on a wick surrounded. he will never blaze as his kind once did. his bleached plumage will never grace the sky, or burn with the sun's flames.

a life in a cage is no life at all. why don't they realize that's why he won't sing? all he does is weep.

freedom came in fire and fury. a heated argument went awry with blood and the falling of bodies. an inferno started to cover the murder consuming all, melting the bars of cold steel keeping him from the blue sky he longed for.

freed but tossed into the world with nothing. he couldn’t even fly. a human guise meant nothing if he couldn’t survive. wit and ingenuity came to his aid, showing him what needed to be done to stay alive. he learned to be fleet of foot and sticky of fingers—a pickpocket, a thief. he learned to survive.



phoenixes were once a creature who were both born and died in ashes, who possessed immense control over fire and tears that healed. they were viewed as the immortal firebird due to their extraordinarily long life span and their continual rebirth at the end of every life (rising a few hours later so long as the ashes aren't disturbed). no longer does the phoenix rise from the ashes for it is bound like all else to the circle of reincarnation.

FIRE MANIPULATION fire bends to fin’s will, allowing itself to be created and shaped by his hand. he can call forth fire so long as there is oxygen around him. captivity has left him with a poor grasp over his abilities. he can only handle small to medium size flames. should his fires go out of control, there is little he can do to stop them.

HEALING TEARS the tears shed from a phoenix have healing properties. they are capable of healing almost any wound and extend to curing poisoning and some diseases. a phoenix cannot make itself cry and does not cry easily. their tears cannot heal their own injuries.

WING MANIFESTATION while in human form, he can manifest wings capable of flight. he doesn’t know how to fly so he prefers not to have anything that could give him away as a monster so this power often isn’t utilized.
