Her first memory is the bubbling magma of a supposedly dormant volcano. Her second, its eruption. She was born in fire and destruction, and she has brought it wherever she has walked since. Her drive is chaos and her need for it, primal. She is brimstone personified. At first she wandered aimlessly through the wastes, fumbling like a newborn deer. She had no maker, no language, no name. All she had was the burning in her chest. She walked for many years, killing all who came across her to sate the flames. She was wild. When she came across civilization her first instinct was to destroy it. And she did, for decades.

Eventually her curiosity began to outweigh her bloodlust. She recently learned how to take a human form and she has begun walking among these small and pathetic beings, slowly acclimating to their ways. But the flames only ebb, they will never be put out, and one day they will come roaring back to life.






Demons are many, and their forms innumerable. They are consummate monsters. It is said they are born out of sinful temptations, springing forth from rage and hate, envy and pride. They are scattered bunch, ranging from the cunning succubus to the measly imp.

Chaos demons are red-scaled abominations, possessing large, curved horns and goat's hooves. When they speak their voices are terrible, distorted by their distance from humanity. They walk on two legs and control the destructive power of fire with impunity. Their teeth and claws are sharp and broad, more like axes than knives. They possess wings.

They are a rare form of demon, for pure destruction is a rare desire. They are not born innately intelligent, and many spend their immortal lives mindlessly razing the land before them. As they mature their powers grow and they become more monstrous in appearance. They reach adolescence after one century, but there is no known limit to a demon's strength. Their weakness is holy power.

FIRE MANIPULATION Chaos demons possess the power to create and control flames. Their attunement to the element makes them immune to its detrimental effects. They breathe smoke like air and they cannot be burned. This power and immunity persists into Astrid's human form. She is capable of breathing fire and uses her hands to manipulate it.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH Demons are strong and physically tough. Their scaling is harder than steel and acts like body armor. Even without the use of their element, their bodies are designed like weapons. Their horns can gore, their claws will dismember and it is trivial for a demon to pick up and throw a human. Astrid stands at 8 feet tall and is composed of 200 pounds of hardened muscle in her demon form. She does not have strength in her human form, but she is able to manifest scales and claws at will. Her demonic qualities also come out uncontrollably when she loses her composure.

FLIGHT As a young demon, Astrid's wings have only just sprouted and she does not have full control over them, nor is she able to manifest them at will in her human form. She is only capable of limited, low height flying. Instead, she uses them to whip the air around her into a torrent capable of pushing people away.

Astrid's contract has caused bloodshed for hundreds of years. The chaos demons that came before her varied from mindless tools of destruction to an ancestor that fell in love with the one sworn to hunt her. The details of the pair have been long lost to the sands of time.
