It had reached his ears that there was a boy gifted at fixing things considered irreparable by normal means. News of this individual brought him relief, and hope that his cherish possessive—an heirloom pocket watch left to him by his grandfather—could be returned to its former glory. He arrived at the repair shop with the remains of the object wrapped tenderly in a handkerchief, clasped gingerly in his hands. In the event that even he couldn’t repair it, Florent wasn’t sure what he would do. The distance he traveled simply to seek out the repairman took him beyond the lands he was comfortable with already. He was in lands he didn’t belong in, hostile lands for a man of the empire. Knuckles rapping on the aged door, he was the picture of confidence and purpose despite his worries. LARSA KARIMI

If there was one thing that could make a day interesting, it was having a customer. They brought in all sorts of nick-nacks, or they just brought themselves in. Depending on how badly they had managed to injure themselves, Larsa would arch a brow before asking, "How the hell did you manage to do that? No, no, it's okay. You don't have to tell me. ... but if you really want you can. I ain't gonna stop you." Relieved to have some form of company, Larsa is the one who flings the door open. "Huh, you look okay. I mean, you have all your limbs connected to you, and you don't look like you're going to fall over... Let me guess, a broken item?" He got plenty of those day in and day out. Honestly, people owned the weirdest shit. FLORENT DELACROIX

Whatever he‘d been expecting and what came bursting out the door were so far from each other, Florent was capable only of staring. He found his voice after the boy had finished. “My watch.” He held out the handkerchief wrapped item, removing the corners to exposing the gleaming silver to the gas lights. Already it was clear that it was damaged from the juts of spring and wire that poked up against the cloth covering. “Can you fix it?”If the boy could not, he wouldn’t waste another second lingering around. He would much rather begin his journey home. A champion of the empire on Irkalla soil could only lead to disaster no matter how capable he was. LARSA KARIMI

Larsa taps his chin with a single finger, squinting down at the pocket watch through his red mask. "A watch, huh? Looks pretty bashed-up, but I think I should be able to at least get it to start ticking again. The glass of the face can be mended as well, but it'll be noticeably thinner... Ah, anyways, I'll see what I can do for you." After all, this was what he was good at. Sort of. Good enough to run a business, anyways. He wandered behind the counter, rummaging through the cabinet behind it. The sound of metal clattering against metal filled the air, until Larsa had found a cauldron of an appropriate size. "Gotta make sure I have the right size before starting on something... Too big a cauldron, too much magic, you know?" Granted, he didn't expect Florent to understand how his magic worked, but he enjoyed making small talk. Larsa sets the small pot on the counter top and gestures Florent towards him. "Hey, what's your name anyways? Are you from around here? The name's Larsa, if you wanted to know. Oh, anyways, can you place your watch in here for me? With the handkerchief, if you don't mind. Looks like a pretty decent buffer."FLORENT DELACROIX

He finds himself in the company of quite the oddity. The young boy, rumored to be a gifted repairman of body and object, is not at all what he expects. His red mask, his nearly ceaseless chatter, it leaves him in silence. But it sounds as if he can repair his cherished watch, so he shakes off the shock and decides to be friendlier to this boy. “I’m not familiar with the workings of magic, I’m afraid. But do what you must.” He abides the boy’s gesture, coming to stand at his side. Watching the process in motion, he is interested in how the trick worked. Magic always has a way of fascinating him. “I am Florent. And I’m afraid I am a foreigner to these lands.” He answers. “It is certainly a pleasure to meet you, Larsa.” The words roll easily off his tongue, though he’s not too sure if he means them just yet. The boy certainly was a curious individual. “I don’t mind at all.” Florent lowers the handkerchief and watch into the iron cauldron without hesitation. He has his reservations. They are not enough to make him take back his decision to trust this boy. “Work your magic.”LARSA KARIMI

The first thought that runs through Larsa was, wow, this guy is actually trusting him to do something semi-important. Or something that may have been semi-important, anyways. Human bodies were so much easier to mend, only because they were initially meant to knit themselves together on a smaller scale. Machines were as good as busted once they had reached the end of their line. But hey, this worked nearly 80% of the time, and Larsa was not the kind of person to turn someone in need away. "Oh, nice to meet you then, Florent. That's an interesting kind of name." With that, Larsa turns the smaller cauldron around, the broken pocket watch facing upright from his point of view. "I probably should have warned you that it's possible I might bust your watch even more, but! There's also the chance that I can fix it so let's see how this goes."Larsa holds his hands slightly above the rim of the cauldron, palms facing downward. Tongue peeking ever so slightly from the corner of his mouth, a white energy begins to form from within the container. Despite being obscured by the light, it is clear that the watch is rattling by the noise coming from its interior, the metal beginning to bend itself back into shape, glass hardening until it is good as new. "Almost there... -- oh. Oh shit. Uh."The cauldron coughs up a cloud of black smoke. Larsa fans it away with a hand, only to discover that the remains of the watch are just as black as the smoke. The good news is that the watch is back in its original shape. The bad news is that it has been burned to a crisp. "... I mean it... it works... see you can hear the clockwork going again but... er... Damn, I knew I should have gone one cauldron size smaller..."FLORENT DELACROIX

The comment came almost as an afterthought, thrown in last minute. Florent didn’t even get a chance to protest, or even demand back his watch. Larsa went to work on it, pouring white energy into the small black cauldron. Florent watches in hope it will mend. It even seems like it is at first. A thick cloud of sooty smoke rose to replace the radiance. Any hope he had in his watch being repaired died away, and anger rising up to replace it. It grows like a flame fanned. “If you knew that, then you should have done it!” He snapped almost at once. “ Is it a game to toy around with people’s cherished possession? They come to you with the hope of having their precious things repaired and you take a gamble—is that what you do? Do you do the same with their lives when they come to you with deadly wounds?”LARSA KARIMI
