the empire does not care about the shape of his heart, and he's lived long enough under its shadow that stefan does not think that he is missing anything anymore.

he's not a man who can give himself meaning, not when it's been forced on him for his entire life. what he's looking for is an ending, and he doesn't necessarily care about who is the one to write it.

the future isn't his to worry about, but the present is. stefan's role within the empire is to eliminate powerful dissenters that could prove to be a threat to the empire's stability. he knows how deeply the rot sets in, but he still thinks that the foundations can be preserved.

he knows that his destiny had been separated from the others at birth. there are things in this world that he will never have a right to. that is fine. stefan doesn't have to see in order to believe.



stefan has been trained as an elite soldier before he had been trained as a champion. his precision with projectiles is absolute, disassemble and reassemble nearly every standard weapon in the imperial army, and break into most fortresses with relative ease. he knows a thing or two about magic nullification, disarming glyphs, and other anti-magic measures. he boasts some natural magical resistance from prolonged exposure during his childhood.

his stamina is unusually high for a human and he has been trained to fight until he's either dead or unconscious. in the case that he does reach that point, he possesses a rune that knocks him out in exchange for doing the same to every living being within a fifty yard radius. he uses it extremely sparingly for obvious reasons.
