What 'Biography' really means is that you get to sell us a general idea of your character's current lifetime.

It doesn't even have to be an actual history, but if a bullet point list of events gets the point across, that's great. So is a fleshed out writing sample of one of their ordinary days or a handful of important childhood memories. We're going to be stricter if you opt to write a detailed description of their living quarters as a biography, but it's an option.

This biography is really freeform. Pitch your character to us in whatever readable format that you want!

Most of the staff is notoriously lazy. Applications that go over 500 words will be required to put a TL;DR summary.



On the islands are witches most festive

On the islands scattered about Oceania are various groups of people, and with them varying cultures. One of these cultures is the group of island witches Magee comes from. A small tribe of witches composed of various magical families, they use magic as another way to express the spirit. As a result their magic is naturally linked to their emotions and performance. More specifically to joyous feelings and humorous, energetic music.

The Mare family channels their magic through use of limerick; the catalyst for this channeling is a mix of instrument and voice. Tempo, intonation of the voice, and the emotions most powerful during casting decide the nature of the spell, but Magee's particular branch of magic is intended to be used for flare and convenience rather than battle or causing damage. To cast a spell a limerick relating to it must be sang, and then to sustain a spell Magee must hum or otherwise vocalize the tune while playing her ukulele.

My music flows and it sways
It inspires the water to play
It's fast and its strong
Go ahead, sing along
And act like the water today

Traversing the seas is a dangerous task, and so much of Magee's magic revolves around traveling across the water safely. The primary way she does this is through manipulating the water itself. Spells of this nature allow her to walk, run, and skate on the water at high speeds and with careful precision.

In the case of a Leviathan attack, variations on these spells allow her to weaponize water for focused attacks. Otherwise she can sing her water-walking spells at a faster tempo to travel faster. Of course her ability to walk on water and fight using these methods is directly linked to her stamina and how long she can continue to perform her songs.

Magee also has spells that can support others. They're mostly minor things, and while her songs may imply heroics they were never designed with combat in mind. Intended for performance, they revolve around making someone lighter on their feet, more flexible, or otherwise better suited for dancing and fancy displays of acrobatics and skill.

Healing magic is, like her support magic, meant for convenience's sake and entertainment. Most of it is for minor aches and pains that one may sustain from long performance or a night on the town. Poems for hangovers, belly aches, and all manner of minor problems exist, but they do little to help with serious wounds. Basically, if you've got more than a deep cut or a bad case of consumption Magee can't do anything for you.
