sry for the worst post i lost this post like 5 times weeps The emperor was dead, a war was starting, and in the sparkling city of Neri, everything was peaceful as always. With all tasks expected of her completed for the day, there was the choice between staying in a stuffy building or going out and getting a fresh breath of air – and with Celeste's least favorite people out and about aformentioned stuffy building, was it any surprise that Celeste chose to wander the streets? She could, at least, be moderately proud at how her city managed to bustle with activity and be peaceful at the same time.
Walks were always peaceful, though. With Celeste, it was never some sort of calculated ploy to get on the good side of the public – her rule was a matter of blood and little else. She had simply been taking these little outings since she was young. Most people knew her already, and let her pass without much comment. Just the way she liked it, honestly.
With a bit of an unceremonious clatter from her armored arm, Celeste sat down on the edge of a fountain, looking up at the sky. Storms might be brewing on the horizon, but here it was a clear, beautiful day.

"Aah! There you are my lady!" A chipper voice would chirp from off to Celeste's right, ruining whatever small amount of peace that the little lady lord may have found. It was a nice moment at least, but as soon as it had come it was gone now. It would only take a moment for the young woman to appear, a tan and crimson red outfit with a black fringed skirt brushing at her knees as she put on a bright smile and let her hand rest on her right hip. "You know, if I didn't know better I'd think you were trying to avoid me." She'd chime, ice blue eyes seemingly flashing as she adjusts the quiver sitting lopsided along her shoulders. She's still carrying her bow of course, the wooden curve secured to her back with the bowstring resting diagonal along her chest and her other hand gently strumming at the taught fiber. It really seems like she just slipped it over her head and under an arm in pursuit of her lady, though with how bright her grin is? Well, it's quite obvious she didn't even break a sweat tracking down the other woman.
"You remember what your father said, there are much safer things than wandering outside the castle alone." She'll hum, utterly cool and lifting her hand to brush dark bangs from her eyes before she tilts her head upwards to peer toward the sky. "I will begrudgingly admit it IS a nice day." She'll add, pursing her lips and now moving both hands down to her hips and striking a mock heroic pose, chest puffed out and eyes full of light. "Though, now that I'm here you're all good to carry on!" She'll giggle, her voice girlish and utterly fit for her face as she puts an arm to her stomach and bows in a dramatic fashion to Celeste. It's quite an extravagant movement, leaning down deep and brushing her hand out as her left foot went back and the black haired girl was offered a view of nary more than the ground before Celeste.
It seems, like always, she's at Celeste's beck and call. It's quite odd how this girl seems so easy around the lady of the house, who near everyone else seems to go out of their ways to avoid. She's just... Entirely at ease! An it's hard to tell if those grins and smiles come from comfort or if she's sharing some little joke to herself. It may well even be a bit unnerving! But really, she just oozes warmth at the moment.

Really, what a poetic, introspective moment. A picture perfect moment - just to be shattered by Celeste's third least favorite person on the planet. She didn't need to look to see who it was - her voice was enough, high pitched and instantly recognizable. Why didn't Celeste try harder to give her something to do? More than that, how did the archer even find her, especially so soon? You know, if I didn't know better I'd think you were trying to avoid me. Despite herself, Celeste glanced out of the corner of her eye to her unwanted company, a quick, annoyed sort of look, before she tilted her head back down and refocused on her silly archer maid. “That's a shame.”
...She couldn't get rid of the woman, it seemed. Sometimes Celeste toyed with the idea of trying a little harder to permanently get rid of her, but in truth, her annoyance wasn't so great as to merit another murder, and so far, Mira proved herself a dependable, if strange ally. Besides, Mira had been around almost as long as Celeste could remember – an almost unquestioned irritation in her life.
A quick flicker of an unreadable emotion was replaced by a neutral 'smile' (a little too tight to be a smile, really), and Celeste gave an exceptionally 'neutral' response – or, at least, a surface level neutral response, brimming in 'why are you even here', which was about as neutral as Mira was going to get this fine afternoon. “Whatever shall I do without you.” She began, drolly, not actually sounding excited in any capacity. She then shifted, looking down at her hand – as if inspecting something rather interesting on it. “Do be careful not to take too much of my father's words to heart, though. He's dead.”
Vladmira knew that. And Celeste knew that Vladmira knew that. Maybe it was a joke of some sort – the small twitch at the corners of Celeste's mouth did betray a hint of amusement. Or maybe that was just her getting fed up with false politeness. “I was sitting, Mira. There's no place to go. Unless you're in a rush? You can turn around and go back in the direction you came, if you'd like.” And here, Celeste gave a soft little snort at her own joke - as if she could get rid of this persistent little archer so easily.

"Ah, shame is only ever something that you can choose to bear, and I do not wish to say I know better than my lady, but I would be hard pressed to find any shame in this situation." The maid would quip back cooly, coming up for air from her bow and wagging her index finger as she smiles gently at the little lord. Nope, she couldn't get away from her! She was an ever permanent fixture in Celeste's life since the day she appeared, the young archer seemingly little more than a girl off the street who had worked her way through the good graces of the noble Nerian family. Though, of course, much of this was assisted by her demonic powers, but then, Celeste need not know that! Because honestly, that would just go and spoil everything! She was here to see a story, and she'd be damned to watch it slip right out of her finger tips and become a farce. And really, could Celeste ever kill a face like this? Look how natural that smile is, how fair her skin is too! She's perfectly put together, in that kind of cute way that just begs to be hugged, which makes it so odd that Celeste hasn't hugged her yet. What's up with that?
And she seemed ever impervious to those nasty looks, all the subtext in each of her lady's movements and words. She was bulletproof, that cool air impenetrable as she gently tilted her head to the right and let her hands once again fall to her tips as she smacked her lips. "I ask myself the same question sometimes my lady." She'd hum in response to the mock question before perking an eyebrow and pursing her lips at the comment about her father. What a little witch! She really had to give it to this girl, she was ice, and while such a casual reference to a crime so unforgivable as patricide sent a little cry of warning off in her head, her curiosity was sent a spinning and she could only become more engrossed with the young lord of Neri. She had chosen a great little player, even if she did delight in hurting her so! A shame.
Of course, she would only falter for a second before tilting her head further, that twitch building into an inquisitive look as if she's about to speak before she yields the floor once more to Celeste as she continues with her next point. It was a purposeful little trick, to lull her mistress into complacency before she crosses her arms over her chest, index finger now tapping against her arm as she tilts her head left and right. Only to sigh and flick her bangs once more as she eeeever so gracefully slides to the right, hands balling into fists as she tilts to and fro on the spot as the succubus does a silly little dance to bring herself squarely in front of Celeste. "Aah, but the world's your oyster my lady. There's nowhere you cannot go on little but a whim." She starts off, obnoxiously chipper as she winks and splits an even brighter grin. "And my lady, there is nothing I like more than to be of service to you." That is the smile of the sweetest most trustworthy girl in the world.
And to Celeste? Well, it's quite clearly evil. Or you know, annoying. One or the other!

True to form, Celeste's words hardly gave Vladimira pause - she continued into a respectful denial of any sort of shame and teasingly waggled a finger at Celeste. For her part, the lord gave a soft snort - the dismissive sort. Vladimira was pulling her cute act, and quite frankly, Celeste wanted little to do with it no matter how shiny her blue eyes looked, or how bright her smile. Perhaps Celeste's refusal to play along with Vladimira's wiles was the reason that she stayed around - or, maybe not.
Celeste watched (or stared at) Vladimira as she did her silly little dance and came closer, raising an eyebrow in a sort of impassive 'just what do you think you're doing' expression. However, Vladimira didn't explain herself, instead responding to Celeste's earlier words. 'Aah, but the world's your oyster my lady. There's nowhere you cannot go on little but a whim.' "Of course," Celeste's voice was truly neutral this time, and then she rolled her shoulders, thinking things over. With the current state of affairs... of course, Celeste could leave Neri in the hands of someone worth trusting, but there were few and far people between worth trusting. She'd only give her younger sisters the 'regency' if she absolutely had to - which made travelling about to places a little irritating.
But thinking about it, she really did need to start planning for a trip, at least. Celeste hadn't been in the position of leadership for long enough to go through a war, but she did remember the few times that such conflicts came up, her father had to disappear to the capital. Celeste blinked slowly, then addressed Vladimira. "The world is my oyster... hmm, but I think you would miss me terribly if I simply upped and left without you." Celeste gave a little bit of a wistful sigh - just to drive home the point of how much she wished she could do just that. "Since you're here, and oh-so-willing to be of service... how do you feel about the climate in Shara? You don't happen to melt when it rains, do you?" Celeste "matched" Mira's bright smile with a slightly rude one of her own. If only, if only.

Vladimira of course, was totally passive in return to the needling little snorts or glances. She seems utterly bulletproof to Celeste's charms, either she's that bubbly and balanced, or she is delighting in this all too much! And really, both options carry some rather terrifying consequences. Gosh, she's even humming again as she plucks her bowstring once more and fills her stance out somewhat, other hand planting on her hip again as she lets out a gentle chuckle. Truly, she wasn't advocating for Celeste to leave the city straight up, she just wanted to push and prod the young lord into getting out into the world, being all introspective and staring at the sky is so incredibly droll and she was not keen to sit there and spectate a spectator.
"To say the least!" She'd chime back at the prospect of being left behind, only to put on a bit of a distressed look, her mouth pulling into a half frown that was more akin to a disgruntled expression of befuddlement than her normal airy looks. "There is no end to your sharp tongue is there my lady?" She'll ask, sounding a little more even as she half closes one eye and lets her hand slip down to rest on her side now as she leans to the right. "Though, my Lady, you would have to get much better at hiding your trail." She retorts in kind, puffing out her chest somewhat and poking her tongue between her lips. Celeste was an easy one to find, to a creature that preyed upon emotions the little lord was like a torch in the night, a delectable draw that Vladimira was trying so hard to not indulge herself in. Because when you've lived as long as her? Savoring these interludes was the name of the game!
She was also kind of cute! But that was neither here nor there.
"Shara? That happens to be my родина." She'll remark, the inflection of her voice lowering a bit as she finishes out the last word in a different language, her tongue clicking as she put on a wry expression. "Haven't melted yet." She'll chirp, her eyes narrowing a small bit. "Apparently I'm rather heat resistant as well." She'll needle, flashing a bright grin and flicking her bangs once more.

Perhaps someone more unused to Vladimira, or with a shorter temper, would grow quickly frustrated with how their words seemed to have no effect on her. While Celeste prided herself on seeming untouchable, sometimes, in moments of weakness, she had to admit that Vladimira was rather impassable as well, in her own way. Like a stone wall hiding behind a bright smile, or the like. But two could play that game, especially when one was trained all of her life to be polite. "Oh, my... I must have forgotten about your likeness to a dog, sniffing me out no matter where I run off to..." Celeste raised her eyebrows and gave a wider smile now, taunting Vladimira, clear as day. "Terribly foolish of me. You even look like a puppy," Celeste backhanded that 'compliment' out with a wave of her usable hand. Truth was, Celeste disliked puppies just as she disliked regular dogs, though puppies came with the added annoyance of being purely useless instead of just sort of useless.
'Shara? That happens to be my родина.' Her what? Context clues said that 'rrrogina' or the like meant something like homeland, but Celeste would faster damn herself to eternal torment than try to mimic the occasional nonsense word that Vladimira spat out, even if it was just to figure out what she meant. Celeste figured her denial of being some sort of water-averse witch or the like would suffice as a, 'yes, I'm okay with being irritating and tailing you to Shara'.
"Then perhaps you won't mind Shara's occasional rains too much, will you?" It probably didn't actually rain that much in Shara - but Celeste was remembering the last time she had the bad luck to visit during a particularly wet year. All of that mud... "I expect the empire to have need of me there soon," Celeste said, lifting a finger and waggling it almost in direct mockery of Vladimira. "People are sometimes desired, you know how that works. I'm sure you've observed it quite a bit," And while Celeste didn't particularly desire Vladimira, convinced that she could handle herself, she knew that Vladimira would hunt her down if she walked off without her.
Besides, having someone to needle was almost fun, even if this someone still irritated Celeste in turns.
"If the politics of a coming war are of no interest to you, please, do let me know. I'd like to acquire another puppy to keep me company."

Vladimira would purse her lips a bit and then roll her eyes upward somewhat, that good natured grin still plastered on her face as she moves a bit more and nods sharply. "Dependable, caring... Cute... Sounds about right my lady!" She hums with another giggle, hand still resting on her hip as she closes her eyes. "Thank the heavens I am not one of those yappy lap dogs my lady, I fear even your storied patience and understanding would be stretched to the limit." She remarks cooly, only to purse her lips a bit and open one eye. "Woof! Woof!" She'll suddenly bark, shooting her lady a wink and taking a step back as she rests her hands in her lap, one clasped over the other. Yep, she's utterly unflappable as she sways a bit to some song in her head.
And it was a word! And she most certainly was referring to her motherland, Shara born and raised! She'd spent most of her early life there, but a succubus rarely if ever stays in the same spot for long, if only to throw off those bothersome priests and priestesses. Though, Vladimira had not been to the capital in forty years, so she had little to base expectations off of. "Through rain or shine, I will find a way my Lady." She'll remark with a quick nod, looking a little more serious as she confirms that Celeste will not be getting rid of her so easily! Well, alright, she could get rid of her pretty easily all things considered! But look at that face! Look at it! And uh... She's still waiting for that hug!
"Are you a general my lady?" Mira will suddenly ask, perking an eyebrow and keeping a leisurely pose and peering at the finger wagging. She has this... Innate urge to bite the finger. She resists it thankfully, but it's an urge none the less. "I have the experience." She'll hum back with a gentle knowing nod. She was a desire demon after all! Desire was her prime tool, but such things were secrets of the trade~
"You'll be hard pressed to find another dog so accommodating to your charms my lady." She remarks with a nod, a smile coming over her face once more. "OoOOooh, maybe we could get an actual dog?" She'd suddenly chime, puffing out her chest and swaying a bit more, hands holding on to the hem of her skirt. "I call naming it." She adds, finger going into the air. "Cherry~" She'll quite quickly chirp. Oh dear.
