The night was dark, and darkness calls to thieves. Shadows and darkness were one of the closest allies a thief could have. Luck was another. Pure skill was the closest of those allies. The Nightingale had all of those. The sky was pitch black, and the moon was barely visible. He was lucky, and while 'Lady Luck' was fickle, she seemed to have a strange affection for him. However, his successes may have been due to skill, having began learning the skills needed to be an effective thief since childhood. He doubted that his father intended on him dedicating much of his life to larceny. After scouring the perimeter, he had found his preferred way of entering the property. Perched lightly on a window ledge, he worked, and within little time he had the window open, and he was in, the pick and tension wrench finding their way back to his kit, and his bow off his shoulder. An arrow found its way to the bow, lightly strung in case his luck ran out and he was found. He found it unlikely, but even so he was cautious and quiet as he moved through the house, opening doors quietly to peek into the rooms they hid. What he wanted was a bedroom - and preferably an unoccupied one. As he slowly closed a particularly creaky door shut, the thief found his eyes falling upon a drawer in the hallway, and on top of it, what looked to be a rather expensive watch carelessly strewn across the wood. That was something he could take, and take it he did, sliding it into his pocket as he continued walking, his steps careful and slow.

Insomnia plagued the mind of the many, and Killian was keenly aware of the fact that it was keeping him up tonight in particular. After tossing and turning in bed for who-knows how long, after taking multiple trips downstairs for things to do and drinks to have, he found rather quickly that there wasn't going to be any natural way of him falling asleep. So, he figured he'd let it come naturally. Instead of moving around more, he curled up in his favorite chair in his room, with a book and just barely enough light to not hinder his ability to read. He'd hit a particularly good point before he heard what sounded like a door creaking. Now, while he'd typically write it off as the house making noises (that were, notably, unpleasant and disturbing), Killian had a feeling that it was something he'd rather check out. The last time he ignored his gut, he was out of money. It was safe to assume that he managed to pull himself out of his chair, set his book to the side, and go investigate. By investigate, he implied that he grabbed the nearest sword-like object (a fire poker, ironically) and went to the bedroom that sounded creaky. Once the door was opened, he flipped on the light and held out his not-quite-a-sword in the most menacing way possible. There was no way a thief would stick around after that.
