This was the moment that he had been groomed for. Therefore, it was not the conflict itself t hat irked Hector, but rather, a fairly troublesome Empress. The last thing that the empire needed was another Shara leader to go biting the dust. Dead rulers during conflict, he figured, was even worse than having no ruler at all. Unfortunately for him, Althea Volkov has a one-track mind. "I tried reasoning with her," he explains to the man seated across from him. "I explained that the frontlines are dangerous, and Shara needs an Empress to fight for. She is no good to us dead." He speaks curtly, and those his voice is controlled, it is evident that Hector was not very pleased. "... I cannot tell her not not be there, either. Where would be safest for her? The stationary unit? ... you have been filled in about the separation between the front-line and the stationary force, have you not, Killian?"What a troublesome Empress. Under normal circumstances, Hector would not be imparting any of this knowledge to others. On the other hand, Killian had been a long confidante of his. KILLIAN REYES

There's something oddly satisfying about sitting just across from the usually calm and collected general, and being able to get one of the many glimpses into the man. Then again, it happens to be part of the description of the older friend. Killian doesn't mind. It's amusing to see Hector relax, as well as something of a comfort. He takes a sip of his tea and listens, nodding a little at intervals where it seems proper for him to. Eventually, he sets it down, and sighs. "I've been filled in enough."A frown, he just lets his mind stew for a moment. "Well you can't tell her no, because you and I both know that it is the last thing she wants to hear." He doesn't know if Hector wants advice, but it feels proper to offer what he can. "It may be a good idea for her to see the front-lines though. To know what she's fighting for. But away from the actual battle, because the last thing the empire needs is their empress lost."HECTOR GRIMOIRE

The conversation occurring between the two is nearly surreal. Rather, it is surreal that the two can sit across from one another at a table, sipping tea as the Empire finds itself deeper in the war conflict. Sip tea now, figure out the best way to maneuver around Irkalla's zeppelins later. Killian is right. The front lines had a tendency in weather a person down. Break down that naive facade as early as possible, not that Hector thought the Empress was ignorant. Idealist, perhaps. On the other hand, idealism also kills. "It may be difficult for her to travel with the offensive forces," he says, gently lowering the porcelain cup onto its decorated coaster. "An Empress with limited combat experience does not belong with forces that will constantly be on the move. The defensive walls, then, perhaps? It is feasible, considering they will be stationary and primarily comprised of ballistae. Though the offense may benefit more from a boost in morale, the less who know about them, the better..."KILLIAN REYES
