he was told a very long, long time ago that it wasn't good to waste time. he never tried to, honestly. time costed him food—he needed and craved it as time was the most necessary thing in his life. his stomach churned and his innards turned into water at night. dmitri, his back against the wall and mouth stained red he'd turn and run like the wind.
(wolves ran when they knew they were beat and ran when they were hungry. a real wolf was truthfully in all senses: a coward.)
piercing blue eyes were fierce and angry, a snarl rising on his lips exposing scarlet gums and white sharp teeth, on the edges of hell and high waters, he stood in a rabbit cropped meadow, creeping closing his destination, the small poor city of kur. it was cold and the winds bit his flesh and frosted his already red button nose. golden fur still clung to him, his elbows and the tip of his chin. every now and then his eyes would flash gold, his chest boiled. dmitri needed to eat...
"fucking... f-fucki-ing," his teeth gnashed and chattered often. he didn't know where to look, where was he? in the outline of the early morning shadows of the trees a shout would ring out, "shoulda stayed home 'cause i ain't good at looking for fu-uckin' hellhounds." he was in a better mood but he caught the sent of this awesome, this awesome and beautiful scent! he wandered after it and got lost.
dmitri was no good at controlling his emotions. he wouldn't say he missed the old man, either. he needed to let go; to turn into the monstrous piece of shit he knew he was and not be judged. run after rabbits and tear out their spinal chords and laugh (it would feel good to laugh and howl sometime) he desperately needed a break. the tawny fur crept over his stout fingers—fingernails turned to claws. four more seconds... two...
"grandpa!"

it's not everyday that alexander visits the centerspine - people tend to give suspicious looks to travelers who venture into the region that would spell death for most mortals. and as much as alexander loves to play with peoples' perceptions, perhaps pull a trick on them or three, being hunted down as a suspicious person and risking the salt witches discover what he is is something that he would like to avoid. hence, his rare visits back home; and though he could always spend the entirety of the time in hellhound form, caring naught for human misconceptions, he has a cub that he'd like to check on, as annoying as said cub is. he'd sent a letter in advance, but now, in the early morning cold and his slow, steady approach to kur where he'd agreed to meet dmitri, he wonders if he should regret being unable to surprise the lyncanthrope. it's a testament to how familiar he's become with dmitri and alexander's own self-restraint that he doesn't gut the boy accidentally when he's rushed. instead, the hellhound settles for pushing the werewolf back at the ground and growling. he hadn't come back to the centerspine to be ambushed, and he'll make that fact known if he so wishes. DMITRI SETH, i hope i gave you enough to work with!! <3

when that one word left his mouth his jaws expanded and rows of sharp and destructive teeth clenched and protruded from slobbering black lips. alexander, his lithe form peering from the depths of the woodlands and bright red eyes glowering, excited a yip of joy from the golden creature as he ran forward and was almost immediately tackled to the ground. definitely the smaller of the pair, alexander was much more courageous. dmitri rolled on his back, squirming ad letting out a laugh that wounded more like a loud growl.
of course he submitted. but being the shit faced cub he was, he'd latch onto his ear and began to gnaw and chew, letting his werewolf saliva drip on his smoky black fur. it happened before and alexander used either bit him back or demanded for food. or both. he was fine with either. he hadn't eaten since he'd gotten the letter in the mail... and that was a good three days ago. he was starving and hunting with grandpa was a great way to loosen out all this stress.
letting go of his ear, he nuzzled into his chest. a great quality at of saying i missed you without looking, well, awkward.
"h-hun-nt...?" his speech broken and slurred, the tawny lycanthrope grinned crookedly, pawing at his slobber covered ear.

he is not like the monsters that embrace their harsh nature, nor is he like the ones that reject it and attempt to live a human's life. both are extremes of a range that alexander finds all-too-confining. and yet, he cannot find it within himself to simply let it go when dmitri slobbers over his fur. as a hellhound he shouldn't mind - the conversion back to almost-human makes the werewolf saliva inconsequential. but that is not the point. dmitri will be getting him food for this slight, if alexander has any say in it. and he does.the nuzzle, he tolerates in anticipation, though he does return one with a nip of his own at the werewolf's ear - just hard enough to be noticed, but not enough to break fur and skin and pierce into flesh. "hunt," he confirms. it's past time for one, judging from dmitri's enthusiasm. he slides from underneath his cub, limbs finding their place on the ground once more, before loping towards kur, all intent and restrained violence. he'll let dmitri lead, if he chooses, but if he won't alexander will find a suitable target instead in the city. DMITRI SETH gomen for lateness!! holiday hell is real....
