you're the magician's assistant in their dreams the air today had the habit of tugging on the hair of everyone that walked the streets of the damp, dreary city. it soon had the hood of a young, dark figure flapping needlessly in the wind; making that same figure mumble a disinterested thanks to themselves for remembering to throw up an illusion to cover their horns just in case. they had come to enjoy the quiet solemnity of the imperial city- enough to leave their current shop set up (though not without the proper protective and perception altering charms in place) and venture forth. personal preferences or not this place was terrible for business and the fey felt that if he hung around any longer he was going to be found out and have to deal with that backlash. thebes had consistently been his biggest travel destination outside of the outskirts where he took up permanent residence and he didn't want to end up hunted. or worse, his name slandered. remaking identities was such a nasty and taxing process. altering memories gets sticky after awhile and it might do away with some of the darker parts of mortal personalities that cerul adores. this would be his last stop, checking in on some fortunes he's dealt and noting the end results. (the ancient lady running the musky old bookshop down the street should be dead by this point and cerul took an interest in mourners. as if death wasn't common, snort.) however, something else caught his eye. rather, a familiar face in a small crowd of people, which was odd in and of itself. people in this town didn't enjoy themselves. that's what made it so interesting! ah, until that face became a bit more clear. what a beautiful dance she was weaving in her gentle yet pronounced movements. it was a sight to behold. to a common man, cerul muses. "auvrea, sweetie, it's been so long," the fey sighed, maybe playing into the dramatics a touch too much. AUVREA IATORO

[attr="class","round"] The Rusted Key Perplexes me Thebes drew her, like a moth to a flame.
Then again, she was the flame, not the moth.
The girl had a small crowd going, even on this rather windy day, the chill in the air slithering and gripping people. But some still watched her dance, the girl unmindful of the cold really. Her body was warm, and her movements, fluid and graceful, often captured the passion of those watching. Today was no different, as the girl danced still for her captive audience, letting them drink in what she could do, enrapturing them.
Then a familiar voice touched her ears, and a grin touched her face. With a push, knowing that a break was needed, she touched down near her fellow fey. With a bow to the crowd, their clapping filled her with delight. She did so love to dance, as hands scooped her little bowl, the crowd leaving with small murmurs. ''Cerul, what a chance.'' she said when they had all left, dumping the coins in a small bag. ''What brought you this time?'' she asked him, red eyes flickered with amusement.
The two had met before, and well, Auvrea felt comfortable speaking to him. But generally, what she liked best, is that together, they did things. Fun things, and she did so like those tricks and pranks.
She was fey, after all, despite how subdued she was about it normally.

you're the magician's assistant in their dreams "oh, you know. just needed some... air," the words were punctuated with a wave of the male's hand, his gaze soon flitting to the bag in the other's hand. "i will never understand why you work for money, your obsession with dancing aside. you're an intriguing creature, auvrea." "it's been, what now, three years now since we last spoke? i don't get out as much as i used to." it wasn't so much small talk as playful banter, an undertone of amusement drifting along with every word that left his delicate lips. "what have you been up to exactly? i'd have to warn you about being too open in an imperial city like this, once again. we don't need you getting caught."that would ruin all the feyfolk's fun. "it's a pleasure to meet you again; at the very least. i'm heading out again soon and i was just thinking this town could use a little more... life."there was that cheshire cat grin that could strike cold terror into the strongest of men. [attr="class","round"] The Rusted Key Perplexes me Ah, of course, Cerul was... strange.
For a moment, she had forgotten about it, simply overjoyed to meet another of her far diverse kind. But as he spoke, the girl felt her generally calm face twitch in a smile. She was a shy person for most points, but she did feel somewhat comfortable. ''Only half a year really.'' she clarified, when he spoke of how long since they last met. In fact, the girl herself hadn't been traveling for long - she had returned home a month or so ago, and felt caged there, returning to wandering once more.
She heard his warning, and just shrugged. She wouldn't be caught, she had an idea how to work things after all. The girl preferred to be silent for the most part, but when she noticed the grin, she felt a thrill. She knew it, and her own smile came out. ''Of course, all towns need life. What do you have in mind?'' she said, the bowl now safely attached to her belt, hiding the pouch from view. She had to be careful, there were pick-pockets.
She was excited however, at the idea of a prank, and Cerul's words had let her guess he wanted to do one. No matter how weird he was, it was always fun when they played with humans. She had fun with their reactions. And perhaps he did as well.
Sure, she would let him guide the conversation for now, but she was waiting for her moment to speak up, such as the prank's planning stages.

you're the magician's assistant in their dreams cerul merely waved a hand with an unconcerned look. time was barely relative to a timeless creature. not to mention with how often he spent peering into the future, he was bound to get jumbled with timelines. a lot. it took him a moment of blank consideration, bright violet eyes boring into the shy yet grinning face of the female, before he snapped-- literally and suddenly, magic flaring around the source of the sharp sound. "parlour tricks, my dear auvrea. how do you feel about circuses?" there was a wicked gleam in the way the fey motioned, the horn of an elephant's trunk being heard in the distance. it was just a noise, of course, but the reactions of the suddenly confused townsfolk gave him a bit of a thrill. "i'd say we could start jumping through flames... but that'd be hypocritical of my earlier advice.
aim subtle.
there happens to be a march soon. military training. i gave a reading to one of the soldiers here. do you want to know what the bones predicted?
chaos."
if his status as a being of mischief was ever in question, that look, that one damn look, would be all that was needed to back his heritage. AUVREA IATORO

[attr="class","round"] The Rusted Key Perplexes me Of course, she had realized when she tried that correcting the male was useless. But she still did it because it was just something to say. When the snap happened, the thrill of magic touched her, and the girl subconsciously shifted her weight to her toes, rising with the feeling, before going back down. But the noise of an elephant and Cerul's words danced in her head for a moment, before the girl felt her face light up.
Sure, Cerul was a bit... well okay he was very confusing sometimes. But Auvrea was fine with that. In fact, she thought she understood most of the gist. Although the news of war didn't really shake her per say, it was like a hidden warning. That the humans would stir themselves into a frenzy. Chaos however, was something she could appreciate, and even have fun with at times.
The girl felt her smile turn into a small smirk, mischievous and dangerous. ''Sounds like fun. Shall we contribute?'' she asked, wondering if she should send out her own magic. She hesitated, simply because she didn't know how to augment the illusion that Cerul was starting to build. But she had traveled with a circus for a little bit across the first stages of her journey, so she had a relatively good idea of what they needed. She did hear that a circus was coming soon - so overlapping with it would be interesting.
The girl's mind was formulating and categorizing thoughts. Also by nature, she was best as a minion she found, as she looked up at the other fey with eyes that simply seemed to ask what was to be her job in all of this.

you're the magician's assistant in their dreams God, he was giggling, the bright eyes of the man shining with violet light and chaotic intentions. "Of course, Auvrea, my dearest dancer," he purred, leaning back and popping all the bones all his body is one rhythmic crack. "You know me so well." Though no one really knew the fey, this was the most innocent of images for him. Forget the toying in mortal's affairs and laughing from the sidelines-- this was the real him, in its purest form. The embodiment of mischief and malice. Petty wars did tend to grind his nerves, after awhile, though he's dealt with both parties at one point or another. The human likeness in front of the female slowly faded from sight, leaving only the grinning teeth and glowing eyes to be seen for a few more moments before those took their leave as well. In his place, a trio of tigers snapped into existence. They were mere illusions at best but they definitely didn't seem as so, not until you stuck a hand through one. "What's your favorite animal?"The sound of echoing laughter could be heard along the city as soldiers were spotted blocks away turning the corner-- and the tigers were let loose. With their advancement the sky burst into streamers and colours, strands of vibrant cloth sailing down and wrapping around any aesthetic ligament they could touch. Poppers and smoke went off along various buildings, the tunings of a melodious and voracious orchestra staring in the background of Thebes' own sounds. In a few seconds flat he had transformed the grim town of gloom into a place fit for such a performance. He had thought about taking time with this trick, making plans with the girl as he knew she loved, but he relished this thrill regardless. He knew she'd play her part, no matter what. That's why he kept meeting her, after all. AUVREA IATORO

[attr="class","round"] The Rusted Key Perplexes me The red haired girl tilted her head, an answering grin on her face. She didn't really need to speak, because her illusions were unfortunately weaker then most. They only applied to her own physical being, and were not environmental like most would manage to produce. The girl realized that like usual, the fae before her would not sit down and plan, like she enjoyed. Well, that didn't mean that the dancer didn't like a bit of chaos, preforming a twirl, her own magic beginning to weave around her. She would certainly make this memorable, as people were rounding corners, her own shape indistinct to the eyes of many.
And with a burst, fire lined the sky, the girl snapping flames to burst in a beautiful pattern. Having sufficiently taken the ground's attention away from her ground position, the girl's illusions threaded along her being, transforming her, shifting her. Her human form became no more, her body shifting to that of a lion, a single one to be precise. The lion's mane was mighty, and with a roar, it shook itself, bringing the people's attention back to them - to the tigers and the one lion. Securely, she assumed that her companion had indeed summoned illusion based humans for them to interact with.
He did know the limits of her illusions at the very least, but even if he didn't, it was still a chaos of tricks. The lion snapped, and with the next roar blew a breath of fire, stunning the ground with the unusual display. Some of the children were happy, clapping, but the adults started to look concerned, particularly with the soldiers trying to make their way to the chaos born square. A shiver passed through her mind, tingling within.
Oh it was fun to play tricks and cause chaos, and she was sure that her fellow fae had this idea from the very start when he approached her.

you're the magician's assistant in their dreams She was perfect. Absolutely, positively perfect. It was an odd time when the fey enjoyed the company of another while not getting anything material out of it-- but every time they met up Cerul found himself giddy. It was like he was eighty years younger, all over again! The form of her lion and the fire were wonderful touches. He instructed the illusory tigers to fall in live with it, jumping and doing tricks around the figurehead while joining with bursts of colorful energy their own. It was quite a sight to see, the adults and soldiers seemingly stunned into inactivity while a commander tried to scream at them to act. Pfha, like Cerul would let them ruin his fun. They were nothing more than attendees to this play of his. He was an actor, and with him, this town was his stage. His intangible, invisible form took flight as a visible bird of paradise a moment later. Bright feathers fell down on the display below as the orchestra whispering in the wind picked up the bassline and the streets began to shake. His wings snapped out, lighting up the sky, a symphony of delighted caws mixing beautifully with the music. He swung down after the display to circle around Auvrea's lion, skirting close to the ground. His wingspan was at least nine feet, the length of his body matching just a little behind that. He was big, loud and gorgeous, joining the illusory fire with his own. He disregarding his earlier advice and flew straight through a few hoops he materialized along his path. This was a dangerous, maybe excess use of magic in public, but they would never be able to trace back to him. Though it might be better if he stayed off his next visit for a few... months. AUVREA IATORO if any spelling or grammar is wrong in this post i'm sorry but my fingers excited steamrolled through it
