dude zaynab and alya definitely have the potential to be really good friends!! honestly zaynab'll be v guarded at the beginning so he'd be p evasive about himself if alya pesters him w questions... knowledge is power and he doesn't want to be a thing to be picked apart. that said, alya would grow on him really quickly after the initial "can i trust her or not" deliberation. he likes overtly friendly, optimistic people who wear their intentions on their sleeve. also alya should show him the stuff she's studying, maps, irkallan steampunk inventions, etc. he's curious about that stuff like she is about him.

and shenanigans/traveling buddies for sure!! since alya camps a lot, they could've met on one of her camping trips? maybe zaynab sneaks into her tent to look at/mess with her stuff, and then when alya comes back from getting firewood or something zaynab's casually flipping through her notebooks idk. then they braid each other's hair bc. typical sleepover stuff.

also i'm still making him, but hugo is gonna be my sky pirate in the planned zeppelin hijacking, so he and alya could be childhood friends maybe! i'll come back to it once i make him.

HEY ELIJAH IS SUCH A SWEETIE WTF?? ?? alright so for this cutiepie zaynab could very well stop by the cafe! idk if djinni need nutrition (i'm thinking nah??) and he also doesn't have money on him....but heck zaynab would actually be super nice to elijah and coddle him a little bc elijah restores his faith in humanity...maybe there are good humans out there. so if elijah ever needs someone to run errands/collect ingredients really quickly zaynab is on it.

ok i'm also gonna throw hugo, my irkallan sky pirate in the making, out there. basically he's idealistic to a fault and never really grew up (he's 20 yrs old). they could be cute friends too, where elijah constantly worries about his safety and him TECHNICALLY being a criminal and hugo's like "u're such a homebody have some funnnnn dOWN WITH THE GOVERNMENT hic" laying all over his bar counter bc hugo can't handle alcohol and elijah's gonna have to tuck him in when he passes out tbh.

KILLIAN REYES

alright alright so...are u ready for this......let me know if my wild ideas are too wild/dumb/wtf ok. so cam and killian come from opposite ends of the social spectrum. cam was born into poverty. his mom's a REALLY beautiful prostitute in the old town; she p much did what she could to support them. i think cam's 7 yrs younger than killian, and maybe when cam's 10-12 or smth her mom manages to get a job in killian's household as a maid and it's the best thing ever?? bc finally they might not be impoverished anymore... but cam's still an angry lil kid and deliberately gets into trouble, and he runs into killian one day, who cam might not-so-secretly resent that he's had everything handed to him. however their relationship then develops is up to u. after a few months to a yr, there's an incident that results in his mom being fired (cam steals something costly/important?? idk), it's back to the streets, and cam holds a grudge against killian's family and him 5ever.

flash forward to present day when they're both imperial champs. i feel like with killian cam's carefully crafted persona would falter, bc killian's seen how "pathetic" and lowly cam was before. cam's attained considerable recognition as a young champion, so he'd try to make himself seem "better" than killian and prove himself even if killian's just like "w/e man."

as for zaynab and erik, yea they could be tight. zaynab's a lil standoffish at the beginning but he opens up to good-natured people. they could meet while erik's on the run and bond over both being monsters who aren't really hurting anybody but still get a shitty deal :c also since erik's settled down and blended into human society, maybe he could give zaynab some pointers on how to go incognito and act more human. like "...tbh i can't tell what gender you are." "...oh. does that matter?"

i support this so much. pls make cam's life hard. anya asking cam for help sounds good...internally cam's just like “wtf….i’m a soldier not a tour guide” but he’ll be outwardly nice and accommodating and maybe even a little ~*~*flirty*~*~ bc she's cute and he's doing anya a favor!! (no common decency this fuckboy) anyways ye anya's fuckboy radar would probably go off when cam's a little too composed... tbh no matter no matter how anya treats him he'd still keep the act up unfazed.

oh yea i read in anya's app she does black magic mental probing yeah? well i volunteer cam as victim where anya does it maybe thinking she'll mess w the fuckboy and he'll be ok and then cam is most definitely NOT OK w his unpleasant memories once her magic gets past his emotional walls. so that might be fun too idk u w u

IGGIE VAN ALLAN

YES i want this iggie/zaynab thread so much.... zaynab's gonna be really pissed off bc he hasn't been summoned and bound for a while (? maybe idk what is liquid time) and will def wreck. his. shit. but since iggie's gonna come off as an amateur who has zero idea what he's actually doing zaynab probably won't cause too much bodily harm? just threaten to fry him if iggie pulls this shit again. it'll be a day to remember. let's do it. also idk i kind of think iggie and cam should be bros. fuckboys in arms.

and yes shakti & cam!! i'm not sure how they'd meet either, but they'd be an interesting dynamic. they have similar fighting styles i think, and while shakti's beauty belies a devotion and singlemindedness (? lemme know if i'm assuming anything) to her cause that's frightening in its strength, cam's a pretty cover for an apathy that's empty. all his self-confidence is hot air. she can try to recruit him, but i think cam's really beyond caring about fighting fate or giving into fate at this point. he's going to play the imperial champion and probably be noncommittal about the offer.

KENELM AYERS

I LOVE THIS PLOT...... I LOVE KENELM...... i am all for this!! cam definitely needs some wisdom and perspective in his life, yeah.... he's kind of stuck where he is so i don't talking to kenelm's the end of his troubles, but i do think cam will at least listen and be receptive. there's some part of him that really wants a purpose, but that's also the part of him that's convinced maybe he just doesn't have one and that's that. cam doesn't think he's strong for fighting, only that it just happened and it's something to latch onto.

he'd respect and admire kenelm as an experienced superior, though i feel like kenelm's strong faith wouldn't settle with him comfortably. there'll always be a feeling of alienation, which would keep cam from completely trusting the older man. cam doesn't disbelieve in the goddess; he just doesn't see what good she's done for him tbh.

so for the specifics... cam's apathy might be something kenelm gleans in bits and pieces. cam's probably worked/trained under him before, so kenelm might've noticed that while cam's a good soldier, he seems to be...lacking something. a possible thread idea is that kenelm comes across cam "praying" in a church feeling super lost and offers his guidance? also maybe years ago when cam was just a kid scrapping it out in the old town where kenelm was doing charity work and legit first meeting there. (y) child in distress.
